A real masonry outdoor fireplace turns a slab you walk past into the room you actually use. We build them from the footing up — firebox, flue, chimney, veneer — and then build the kitchen, the seat wall and the pizza oven around them in the same stone. One crew, start to finish, since 1992.
Houston gives you roughly eight months of the year outdoors and four where a fire is the only reason anyone stays out there past sunset. That is the whole argument for an outdoor fireplace: it extends the patio into the part of the calendar you currently write off, and it does it while adding real masonry value to the house rather than a seasonal appliance you roll into the garage.
This is the largest work we do, and the work that most rewards doing it properly. An outdoor fireplace is a small building. It has a footing, structure, a combustion chamber, a flue and a weather envelope, and every one of those has to be right or you get smoke under the patio cover, a chimney leaning away from the house, or spalled brick within three winters.
What we build outdoors
Masonry outdoor fireplaces
Wood-burning or gas, built with a refractory firebox, a properly shaped throat and smoke chamber, a stacked flue and a crown and cap that shed water. Faced in brick, natural stone, stacked stone or cast stone, with a raised hearth and mantel detailed to the house.
Outdoor kitchens and grill islands
Built as part of the same structure and the same stone palette: grill and appliance cutouts, counters in granite or cast concrete, bar seating overhangs, storage, sink and utility rough-ins. Gas, water and electrical are run before the veneer goes on, not chased in afterwards.
Wood-fired pizza ovens
Built into the run beside the fireplace on an insulated hearth slab with a dome and a dedicated flue. This is masonry work, not a kit dropped on a counter, and it is the feature guests remember.
Seat walls, columns and hardscape
Seat walls that define the room, columns that carry a pergola or patio cover, planters, steps, fire pits and stone paving — laid to the same coursing and joint profile so the whole patio reads as one build.
Covered patio and pavilion masonry
Where a cover is part of the plan we coordinate the chimney height with the structure from day one so the smoke leaves the space instead of collecting under the roof.
How an outdoor build runs

Layout on site
We stand on the patio with you, mark the footprint, check sight lines from inside the house, and work out where smoke will actually go given the cover, the roofline and the prevailing wind.

Footing and slab
A poured footing sized for the mass and detailed for expansive clay soil, tied and drained so the structure does not settle away from the house.
- 03
Firebox, flue and chimney
Refractory firebox laid by hand, throat and smoke chamber shaped for draw, flue stacked plumb, chimney carried above the cover, then crown and cap.
- 04
Utilities and rough-in
Gas drops, electrical for lighting and appliances, water and drainage where a sink is in the plan — all in before anything is faced.
- 05
Veneer, counters and finish
Stone or brick laid, joints struck, counters set, hearth and mantel installed, everything cleaned down and sealed. Then a first fire with you standing there.

Where we build outdoor fireplaces
Most of our outdoor work lands on the northwest and west sides of the metro, where lot sizes and covered patios make the build worthwhile. We regularly build in Cypress, Bridgeland, Katy, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Spring, Tomball and Richmond, and we know the ARC review habits in the master-planned communities in each of them. Bridgeland and the Cypress corridor in particular ask questions about chimney height, chase materials and street-facing elevations that are much easier to answer before submission than after a rejection.
We are based at 14103 Owens Rd in northwest Houston, which puts most of those communities inside a short drive — a practical detail on a build where the crew is on site for weeks rather than days.
